June 1, 2020
Virtual Event

On June 1, 2020, AICA-USA's Professional Issues Committee hosted a members-only discussion on how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected art criticism. The discussion opened remarks by Judith Stein and Norman Kleeblatt, AICA-USA co-presidents, about the significance of recent efforts to gather information and feedback from members via the online member survey. Jill Connor, Professional Issues Committee co-chair, introduced the committee and its mission. Participants had the opportunity to share their experiences of the impact of the pandemic, ask questions, and discuss the role AICA might play in supporting art writers in the future.

Questions for discussion included:

How has the COVID-19 pandemic impacted your work as a writer?
How do you think the pandemic will change the field of art writing?
How can AICA and its membership best host the conversation on Art Criticism in the US?
How might AICA best serve art writers? What unmet needs could AICA assist with?
