AICA-USA and the Al Held Foundation invites you to join our virtual panel discussion, Supporting Arts Writers Through Artist Legacies, exploring how supporting arts writers furthers the legacies stewarded by artist-endowed foundations. The panel discussion features Lisa Le Feuvre (Holt/Smithson Foundation), Katy Rogers (Dedalus Foundation), and James Voorhies (Tony Smith Foundation); moderated by Christine Kuan (Creative Capital). The speakers will illuminate the various opportunities offered through their foundations and share their vision on the future of supporting arts writers. AICA-USA organized this program to encourage professional dialogues between organizations and arts writers, and to illuminate opportunities, resources for support and professional development.

The event is free and open to the public.

Nancy Holt and Robert Smithson transformed the world of art and ideas. Holt/Smithson Foundation develops their distinctive creative legacies. Collaborating with artists, writers, thinkers, and institutions we realize exhibitions, publish books, initiate artist commissions, program educational events, encourage research, and develop collections globally from our headquarters in New Mexico. We see critical writing as a fundamental part of developing an artist’s legacies. For an artist’s work to remain necessary and relevant asking questions of that work is essential. At the Foundation we support art writing through our online Scholarly Texts series, where we invite writers to think on a single work by Holt and/or Smithson; through our annual Research Fellowships; and by being always open to research questions and support.
