Christopher Knight Wins 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Criticism

AICA-USA congratulates member Christopher Knight, who has been named the 2020 Pulitzer Prize winner in Criticism. Knight achieved this prestigious recognition for his work with the Los Angeles Times critiquing the proposed overhaul of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and its effect on the institution’s mission. Christopher Knight is art critic for the Los Angeles Times. He is a three-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in criticism (1991, 2001 and 2007). Knight received the 1997 Frank Jewett Mather Award for distinction in art criticism from the College Art Association, becoming the first journalist to win the award in more than 25 years. He has a master’s degree in art history from the State University of New York and a bachelor’s degree from Hartwick College in visual art and literature. Before his career as a journalist, he served as curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego and was a consultant to the Lannan Foundation and the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution in Los Angeles.
